Dr. David Fein
Senior Policy Analyst
Abt Associates Inc.
Dr. David Fein is a Senior Policy Analyst and Senior Manager at Abt Associates Inc. As part of the Supporting Healthy Marriage project, he is the Interventions Team Leader and a member of the Impact Analysis Team. Prior to his involvement in SHM, he has led numerous technically-demanding research projects focused on welfare reform and its impacts on family and child well-being. Dr. Fein's major recent efforts have focused on random assignment and non-experimental evaluations of welfare-to-work programs and other welfare reform initiatives. He served as Project Director for the Marriage and Family Formation Data Analysis Project, which described and assessed the knowledge base on determinants of marriage and cohabitation among disadvantaged Americans with an eye towards the policy implications. His articles have appeared in Evaluation and Program Planning, Demography, and Sociological Inquiry among others. Dr. Fein received his Ph.D. in Demography and Sociology from Princeton University.
